Interview with Tim Tripp, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: After obtaining an extensive collection of Barney Fife photographs, I found it relaxing and fun to create the framing. I sought out and studied with a National Champion Framer in Idaho, retired as a commander with the Westminster Police Department and ultimately bought out two failing businesses and created Grizzly Creek. We never looked back and worked hard to gain a cutting-edge advantage in a creative Denver market.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: The staff at Grizzly Creek are super creative, fun, honest and genuine. As our website says, creativity flourishes from the minute you walk in the door. We maintain current high-end technology that enables us to be time efficient, accurate and cost effective. Grizzly Creek has the experience to fabricate solutions to non-traditional framing problems. We create custom shadow boxes nearly every day and we ship them all over the United States.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Our customers. Each time a client walks through our front door, we realize that we are most likely going to see something amazing. We see art from all over the world, artifacts with rich history and items that one would only see in a museum. Every day is different, and every day poses its own set of challenges.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: I would say that our biggest challenge is delivering the very best product at a cost that is fair to the customer. Everything we do in framing is creative, and it takes knowledge. Think about the $80,000 piece of art that comes to us. It requires an understanding of what can be done to properly frame the piece. The liability of destroying such a piece through improper framing is unforgivable. We are not the “Big Box” store. Our staff is well seasoned, meticulous and award winning. Our creative process is taken seriously. We offer the best at fair prices every day.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: That we are capable of creating a frame per minute. Our store handles single orders and very large projects. We have framed large projects for the United States Air and Space Command, we have framed art for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Jay Leno, portraits hanging in the State Capitol and art that hangs in the U.S. Capitol. We do some really fun projects.
