Re: “What I heard on the Colorado campaign trail,” Nov. 7 Colorado Voices column.
While campaigning for the Colorado legislature, Marijo Tinlin says she heard the following on the campaign trail: “Companies can’t hire employees for the jobs they are offering because they cannot find anyone who can provide a clean drug test.”
Really? What a totally ridiculous statement!
Companies cannot find “clean” people because most of those companies refuse to consider seniors. Most of us seniors have long records of being excellent employees who have a good work ethic and are able to work unsupervised.
Companies love for us to spend our money, but again, don’t consider us worthy of an actual job. Or if they do (and this is an absolutely huge if), they want 24/7 availability and to pay what amounts to slave wages.
