FedEx pilots picketed in Denver on Wednesday in single-digit temperatures amid a contract dispute with the package-delivery firm.

and held picket signs with messages such as “Contract now, it’s time.”

The previous labor contract expired in February 2013. The two sides have since reached agreement on some terms, but others remain unresolved.

The Air Line Pilots Association, a union representing 4,200 FedEx pilots, said the company is pursuing “radical shifts in major sections” of the work contract.

Neither the company nor the union has disclosed specifics of the negotiations.

Pilots also picketed Wednesday in Indianapolis and New York.

On Oct. 31, FedEx subsidiary FedEx Express requested intervention in the negotiations by the National Mediation Board.

“It’s business as usual at FedEx, and there’s no impact on our operations” during negotiations, FedEx spokeswoman Melissa Charbonneau said in a statement. “FedEx is the party that requested federal mediation to move the negotiations forward, not the union. It’s in our best interests to reach a fair and reasonable agreement as soon as possible. We question how productive it is for them to spend time carrying signs out in the street, especially at this early point in the mediation process.”

FedEx said the average annual compensation for its pilots in 2013 was $234,210.
