Re: “Millennial entrepreneur makes a career of improving life for elders,” Nov. 6 Colorado Style story.

Thank you for reporter Claire Martin’s ongoing work spotlighting the people and organizations providing services to our elders.

Martin’s article on Amanda Cavaleri’s Capable Living amplifies points our non-profit, A Little Help, has learned: There is a very real need for young people (Millennials’ numbers exceed the boomers) to become involved in the issues of aging. A Little Help sees great interest in volunteering from all age groups.

While companies like Cavaleri’s focus on concierge-type services to seniors, A Little Help also emphasizes community building, intergenerational volunteer services and social events, health services navigation, skilled provider referrals, and the model of neighbors helping neighbors. With 10,000 people turning 65 across America each day, there cannot be too much interest in building these community connections.

We applaud Cavaleri’s success and appreciate Martin’s continued interest in shining the light on the need to help our seniors thrive.
