themed pub quiz: “Hunger” for trivia feeds a good cause

Denver-based pub quiz company Geeks Who Drink has enjoyed a lot of success (and publicity) with its themed, one-off trivia nights, which have tackled everything from “The Simpsons,” “Doctor Who” and “Star Wars” to the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. To mark the release of Part 1 of the new “Hunger Games” movie, “Mockingjay,” Geeks will hold “This Is a Tribute: A Hunger Games Quiz” in 24 cities — including Denver, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs — on Nov. 20. Given both the name and the timing (just before Thanksgiving), Geeks is partnering with local food banks to donate a portion of the proceeds to the fight against hunger. Many locations will have costume contests, special drinks and prizes. The Denver installment kicks off at 7 p.m. at Fado, 1735 19th St. $5 admission for each player.
