Newmont Mining Corp. of Greenwood Village had the largest percentage gain of any stock in the Standard & Poor’s 500 on Friday, rising 4.99 percent on higher gold prices.
Gold futures have enjoyed their strongest two-day gain since June, and spot gold prices rose 2.26 percent on Friday. Pushing gold higher was a report from Credit Suisse analyst Anita Soni predicting that gold suppy would outstrip demand by 2016.
Other Colorado gold companies with big gains Friday included Royal Gold, up 5.1 percent, and Vista Gold, up 8.3 percent.
