A couple of hikers at Red Rocks were shocked to see a hunter shoot a deer at the park last week.
The hikers — who did not want to be identified — say it happened last Thursday. They saw two hunters jump out of a truck and one of them shot the deer, then started field dressing it immediately. That’s when the hikers called the cops.
“It was utterly appalling,” one of the hikers told 7NEWS. “I was in a state of pure shock.”
Morrison Police showed up and cited the men for illegal hunting in a Denver Park.
The two men were licensed hunters. The man who shot the buck was standing in Red Rocks Park and fired into Jefferson County Open Space.
