With the advent of the holiday season just four days way, Colorado’s high country will be amid a winter storm warning through Monday in the northern and central mountains.
The National Weather Service is calling for snow accumulations from 10 to 20 inches, with considerable amounts of blowing snow with wind gusts hitting 50 mph, making driving conditions hazardous.
Blizzard conditions could hit some areas, while strong winds are expected to pepper the Front Range, along with isolated snow showers with little or no accumulation, the weather service reports.
Mountain snows are expected to develop first near Rabbit Ears Pass, moving toward the Front Range. Heavy snows are expected along the Interstate 70 corridor from Vail Pass to the Eisenhower Tunnel overnight into Sunday morning.
The Weather Service says Thanksgiving Day conditions in the Denver area remain uncertain with cold and flurries possible. Strong winds are expected for the mountains.
