Different people along the Front Range react to in different ways, but for originality’s sake, we have to applaud the employee at Denver’s Uptown Tavern for this recent bit of sub-zero signage: “Soup of the day — whiskey!”

The Uptown sits at 538 E. 17th Ave. in Denver’s Uptown Neighborhood. It’s a fun little place that’s a gathering spot for sports fans, especially during the football season. It draws a lot of SEC fans, particularly those from Tennessee, who faithfully occupy the back patio on Saturdays until, well, the Vols start tanking. And of course, the Uptown is also awash in orange on Sundays when the Broncos play.
