Danilo Gallinari has been added to the Nuggets’ injury list, just as Kenneth Faried appears to be coming off of it.
Gallinari is experiencing soreness in his right knee, due to a couple bruises. He’s day-to-day until the soreness can calm.
“The guy was out 19 months,” Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. “He’s still experiencing a little bit of pain. He’s not back to the level he wants to be at.”
Shaw suspects Gallinari has tried to play through it, but finally needed to rest. Aside from a couple instances, Gallinari has struggled in his first season back from ACL surgery, posting averages of just 6.7 points while shooting career lows from the field (32.8 percent) and 3-point line (28.2 percent).
Meanwhile, Faried is expected to return to the lineup after missing two games due to a low back strain. Faried should start Wednesday night at power forward for the Nuggets, who will be back up to 11 players because of the return of Jusuf Nurkic as well. He’d missed the entire road trip due to attending a funeral back in Bosnia.
Also missing Wednesday night’s game are JaVale McGee (tibia) and Nate Robinson (back).
