is chugging toward its fundraising goal, thanks to .
that she hopes to raise $20,000 by Dec. 20 — money that will go toward buying “a tool inventory that would make Bob Vila drool,” as well as the operational costs of the tool lending library/community workshop.
As of noon Dec. 10, crowdfunders had given $7,431 to the project. There are 10 days left in the Indiegogo campaign.
Founding memberships, at $60, are still available through the campaign. You’ll get your name on the Garage Door of Founding Members, plus a membership voucher that can be cashed in any time after the doors open early next year (but before June 2015).
All DTL members will get borrowing privileges for all of the tools in the library’s collection, as well as access to the community workshop at 555 Santa Fe Drive.
“This is a place where people can discover they’re a lot handier than they think they are,” Steiner said. “A lot of people didn’t grow up getting the message that they can take care of things themselves. We want people to give it a shot.”
