Friday. Downtown Denver is hard to beat for holiday spectacle, from the Christkindl Market and ice- skating rink at Skyline Park to the holiday carousel outside the Denver Pavilions. But just a few paces outside downtown, the popular stretch of Santa Fe Drive that hosts First Friday artwalks will offer its own version of a holiday-lighting ceremony when it brings back its Luminarias display. Santa Fe Drive between the 600 and 1100 blocks will be lit with hundreds of paper lanterns — a Southwestern tradition — as carolers, youth mariachis, a roaming Santa Claus and Aztec dancers will move from storefront to storefront serenading and entertaining visitors. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 12 and is free to the public. Visit for more information.
