Nick Nunns of TRVE Brewing (provided by TRVE)

As 2014 comes to a close, we’re once again asking leading figures on the Colorado beer scene to reflect on the past year and look ahead to next. This next installment in our 4th annual Beer In Review features Nick Nunns of TRVE Brewing in Denver, to a heavy medal soundtrack. Since then, buzz has kept building about TRVE beers (pronounced “true.”) The brewery’s highly regarded barrel program is expanding with the 2015 opening of the Acid Temple, . On to Nick’s thoughts …

Favorite beer of the year: Three-way tie between Jester King’s Arelian Lure, Allagash’s Resurgam, and Trinity’s 365 day sour.

Colorado brewery of the year: They were my pick for new brewery of the year last year, and they’re rolling right along into this year’s brewery of the year: Cannonball Creek Brewing. Everything’s just so goddamn solid.

New Colorado brewery of the year: He was what I was most excited for last year, and he didn’t let me down: Casey Brewing and Blending. Troy’s brewing the beers that we at TRVE are most interested in: Dry, drinkable, acidic, and funky. Great dude making great beer.

Colorado brewery to watch in 2015: There are two great breweries slated to open next year up on the north side by great friends of mine: Goldspot and Call to Arms. Both of them will very likely come out of the gates real strong with solid beer. Looking forward to having some pints at both spots.

Most notable craft beer news or trend of 2014: Itap obviously sticking out as itap so recent, but after the judging / shipping snafu is hilarious. More proof that everyone’s a beer expert these days, eh?

Craft beer trend to watch for in 2015: Attrition.
