All those great teams since the NFL expanded to a 16-game season in 1978. The San Francisco 49ers of the 1980s. The Dallas Cowboys of the early 1990s. The Broncos of the late 1990s. The Greatest Show on Turf Rams. Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots of the past 14 seasons.
None of them ever won as many as 13 games three seasons in a row. The 2012-14 Broncos led by Peyton Manning have a chance to make history. The Broncos were 13-3 in 2012 and 13-3 in 2013. They are 11-3 now.
Win their last two games at Cincinnati on Monday night, and home against the Oakland Raiders on Dec. 28 and the Broncos will have accomplished the 13-3 trifecta.
