I love a good breakfast. But for years I treated the first meal of the day as an afterthought: Grab a cup of yogurt or a bowl of oatmeal, maybe just a banana. Even a bagel and schmear was too much.

But about 10 years ago, when my job kept me deskbound at lunch and too busy to even eat in front of my computer, I switched to a sturdier start to the day, something that would keep me sated into the afternoon.

Given that this is the , I’m going to start posting my calories-plus-coffee adventures in a feature called Denver Breakfast Club, which I’ll try and post each Tuesday morning here at The Den.

Today’s entry: The Egg-a-Rito at , a restaurant at the southeast corner of East 18th Avenue and Humboldt Street.

The Egg-a-Rito is their version of a breakfast burrito. At $9.99, it’s a tortilla packed with scrambled eggs and black beans, then topped with sharp cheddar cheese and smothered in green chile sauce. (Your choose, veggie or pork. Me, I usually go for the veggie, which has a nice heat level.) Home fries on the side, which always managed to wander into some of the sauce and melted cheese, to fine effect.

That was breakfast this morning. And you know? I’m not even thinking about lunch.
