An attic fire that may have been started by a faulty chimney caused major damage to a single-family home in Englewood Thursday night.

“It’s probably a total loss,” a spokeswoman for the Englewood Fire Department said.

The blaze started at about 8 p.m. at the home on Fox Street and Quincy Avenue and drew close to 30 firefighters from the Englewood Fire Department, Littleton Fire and Rescue and South Metro Fire and Rescue. It took more than two-and-a-half hours to put out the blaze.

Two adults were home when the fire began but safely evacuated the residence.
