One Direction’s first U.S. network gig is a combination documentary, performance and Universal Orlando Resort promotion. The hour, “One Direction: The TV Special,” on NBC Dec. 23 (at 7 p.m. on Channel 9), features footage from the South American leg of their 2014 “Where We Are Tour” and follows the band as they record their #1 album, “FOUR.”
