bassist will reunite with his band members at the induction concert on Jan. 9 at the Paramount Theater, AEG Live announced on Monday.
Poco is among the latest group of bands inducted into the CMHOF, along with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Firefall and Manassas.
Poco formed in the late ’60s when Richie Furay and Jim Messina recruited Denver-based musicians Rusty Young and George Grantham. In 1971, the country-rock band, made up of Schmit, Young, Furay, Paul Cotton and Grantham, moved to Colorado and released “Keep on Tryin'” four years later. Schmit left the band in 1977 to join the Eagles.
“Timothy has been a gracious artist over the decades, and I’m thrilled that he will be part of our program and help make history in front of Colorado music fans,” Colorado Music Hall of Fame chairman Chuck Morris said in a news release.
The induction concert will also include performances from Firefall, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Nathaniel Rateliff. Chris Hillman, Richie Furay, producer Jim Mason and Steve Martin will also be honored on Jan. 9.
Past Colorado Music Hall of Fame inductees include John Denver, Harry Tuft, Barry Fey, the Astronauts, Sugarloaf, Flash Cadillac and Judy Collins.
Tickets for the induction concert are on sale now and cost $39-$99.
