Civic leaders provide steak dinner to help Salvation Army clients celebrate the season

One hundred men in drug and alcohol recovery at the were treated to a celebratory steak dinner underwritten and served by some of Denver’s most charitable community leaders.

The benefactors included developer Cal Fulenwider; Rich Schierburg, chair of the National Jewish Health board of directors; and .

Schierburg and Fulenwider called upon several of their friends to serve as waiters for the holiday dinner that honored and supported 100 men working on their sobriety.

Salvation Army lieutenant colonels Dan and Helen Starrett joined a group of volunteers that included Schierburg’s wife, Linda; Mark Lubchenco; Cody Lubchenco; Roberta Lubchenco; Marcus Radatz; Steve Dexter; Blake Fulenwider; Chris Fulenwider; Melanie Harrison; Mike Meredith; Dawn Meredith; Del Dorn; Chuck and Marty Everill; Eric Schierburg; Francie Dittmer and Cheryl Kayl.

Rich Schierburg spoke briefly, saluting the men for taking the first step and encouraging them to continue on their journey toward sobriety.
