An historic run for the Colorado State athletic program continues.
The men’s basketball team ranked No. 24 in both the and polls Monday, days after extending its record to 13-0.
The Rams, who are tied with No. 1 Kentucky for the best record and longest winning streak in the nation, retained its No. 24 ranking in the AP poll while jumping up one spot in the USA Today poll. They enter this week as one of only six Division I teams to remain unbeaten.
The Rams have been ranked in consecutive AP polls three times now; they did it in back-to-back weeks in February 1954, and again in February 2013.
Colorado State defeated Charleston Southern at home and New Mexico State on the road last week, and will next host Boise State on New Year’s Eve to begin Mountain West Conference play.
This year is the first in school history in which both the men’s basketball and football programs have been ranked among the top 25 in the same season. CSU is also one of just 11 programs in the nation to have its football, men’s basketball and volleyball teams ranked in the top 25.
The volleyball team reached as high as No. 6 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings this year, and went on to make its 10th Sweet 16 appearance.
