The Colorado State Patrol is responding to an eight-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 northbound in Greenland south of Castle Rock.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m., the patrol said. Authorities said people were injured in the wreck.
All the vehicles involved in the crash have been moved to the shoulder of the highway and fire crews are on scene. The patrol is asking motorists to slow down in the area as emergency equipment may be partially blocking one lane.
Officials say at least one person will be taken to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash.
A camera from the Colorado Department of Transportation showed traffic is backed up in the northbound lanes for several miles.
