Anti-police graffiti was seen last Friday on a wall along Foothills Parkway in Boulder. City crews later painted over it. (Cliff Grasmick, Daily Camera)

Re: “Anti-police sentiment,” Jan. 3 news photo.

I am offended by the picture you ran on Page 2 of Saturday’s paper showing hate-speech graffiti aimed at police officers. Yes, it is news. Yes, you have the constitutional right to print it. However, in light of the unreasonable fear and distrust being shown by a small percentage of the population toward all police officers across the country, including the vast majority of good cops, I think this shows poor judgment and bad journalism on your part.

To the tagger (the true descriptor wouldn’t be published in a family newspaper!) responsible for the ugly graffiti recently painted on the fencing of Foothills Parkway: Remember that the vast majority of law enforcement personnel are honest, are your neighbors and friends, are taxed with handling extremely difficult tasks, and are nearly always in a no-win position.

With that in mind, the next time your store is robbed, you are mugged, your home is burglarized, please feel free to call the Rev. Al Sharpton to come to your aid.
