A man has died as a result of injuries suffered in a Dec. 27 automobile accident in Aurora, with charges pending against the other driver.
Aurora police said John Dale Bednar, 53, was taken off life support on Friday.The other driver, Eric James Stell, 33, may face numerous charges, including leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Officials said Bednar, driving a green, 2001 Mercedes Benz, was making a left turn from northbound South Parker Road, when Stell, driving a blue, 2001 Subaru, and traveling south on Parker Road, broadsided him.
Police said Stell was initially uncooperative with the investigation, claiming his car was stolen on the evening of the crash from the parking lot of a nearby drinking establishment he was patronizing.
Stell later admitted he was the driver of the car.
Police said evidence suggests alcohol intoxication may have been a contributing factor with both drivers, adding that snow and ice on the roadway were also factors.
