Mountain Toad Brewing’s beer garden is too noisy for neighbors.
Just a year and a half says it needs more space to keep up with demand.
The brewery will rent 17,000 square feet of space in , a California-based aerospace sensory company that will use its 3,000 square feet of the facility for research and development.
Mountain Toad co-owner Kaylee Robbins (formerly Kaylee Acuff, now married to head brewer and co-owner Josh Robbins) said the ties between the two companies are familial — owners are related — and both wanted to expand in Golden.
She also said that in addition to an upgrade to a 30-barrell production system, canning line and tasting room, this will be an opportunity for Mountain Toad to introduce a barrel-agining program.
“We are really excited to have room to play and expand our beer offerings, one thing that our current facility just does not have any room for,” she said in an e-mail.
The planned facility in the Coors Tech Center still needs to get through Golden’s planning commission. It has a public hearing this Wednesday.
Robbins said this expansion won’t change much about the brewery’s current location, . It will remain a tasting room and hub for small-batch brewing.
