FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Mo Evans went 3-of-4 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points as IPFW defeated Denver 69-53 on Thursday night.
The Mastodons (8-8, 1-2 Summit) led 48-32 after a 14-2 run early in the second half, and the Pioneers (7-9, 1-2) couldn’t cut their deficit to fewer than 13 points from there.
Denver shot 12-of-26 from 3-point range and 19-of-39 from the field, but was only 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. Marcus Byrd led the Pioneers with 14 points, and Brett Olson contributed 13.
THURSDAY’S HIGHLIGHT
Cameron Michael scored a career-high 22 points, Tevin Svihovec and Jordan Wilson scored 16 apiece, and Northern Colorado held off Portland State 90-85. Dominique Lee had 12 points and Corey Spence 10 for the Bears (7-7, 2-1 Big Sky), who outscored the Vikings (7-6, 1-2) in the paint 36-28 and scored 22 points off 14 turnovers.
