Getting your player ready...

If there is conflict, it wasn’t evident.

Jack Del Rio stood up on the speaker’s box at Dove Valley as he always does on Thursday during game week, not as a candidate for the Oakland Raiders’ head coaching job but as the defensive coordinator for the Broncos.

“There’s really nothing to balance,” Del Rio said after he stepped off the podium. “You attack one when you have time to do it and then you attack the other as you always do. My life hasn’t changed.”

Once Raiders owner Mark Davis left town Sunday, Del Rio’s attention turned to Andrew Luck, the fine young quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos’ playoff opener is Sunday in Denver against Luck and the Colts.

But enough about Luck. How did the interview go with Davis?

“I think it went well,” Del Rio said. “But there’s not too much to say other than that.”

Adam Gase also took his turn to address the media Thursday. The Broncos’ offensive coordinator interviewed for head coaching jobs with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons on Friday, and with the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears on Saturday.

Gase started early Sunday morning on game planning against the Colts’ defense.

“I can’t do anything right now,” Gase said when asked about his potential job prospects. “All I can do is worry about this week. … I have to worry about the Colts. I have to make sure our offense is ready to go.”

It might not hurt the 36-year-old Gase that the Bears hired 37-year-old Ryan Pace as their new general manager.

Then again, it might make sense to pair a 37-year-old general manager with a 62-year-old coach named Mike Shanahan.
