The 2015 National Western Stock Show kicked-off in Denver on Thursday with the event’s iconic parade through downtown.

The parade began at noon and preceded the event spanning Jan. 10-25 at the event’s complex in north Denver.

Basketball legend and former Nugget Chauncey Billups, who graduated from Washington High School and University of Colorado, served as the parade’s grand marshall.

“The National Western Stock Show has been part of the fabric of Denver since I was born,” Billups said in a statement.

The National Western Stock Show is in its 109th year.

The parade included Longhorn cattle, horses and western wagons and marched 15 blocks down 17th Street through the city’s center.
