An off-duty police officer working at a Denver restaurant arrested a man shortly after he entered the restaurant and began stabbing another man in the back Friday afternoon, authorities say.

The victim, who has not been identified, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, said Ronald Hackett, Denver police spokesman.

The knifing happened at the Original Chubby’s restaurant at 1231 W. 38th Ave., Hackett said.

The suspect and victim were arguing outside the restaurant at about 2:30 p.m. when the victim walked inside the restaurant.

“Witnesses say the suspect walked in and without saying anything started stabbing,” Hackett said.

An off-duty Denver police officer, who was working at the restaurant at the time, arrested a suspect.

The suspect’s name has also not been released.
