1 Christmas ax. Two men got into a fight during a party in the 1700 block of North Cathay Street on Dec. 25. One man picked up an ax and swung it at the other man. He missed, but he sliced the front fender of the homeowner’s car. She called police, but the suspect took off.

2 Present thief. A woman pulled up to her home in the 16200 block of East Alaska Place and watched as a burglar casually exited her patio door, carrying a diaper box full of toys that he had just stolen from under her Christmas tree Dec. 24. The woman walked by the suspect and told police which direction he headed.

3 Over the fence and through the yard. A Yellow Cab driver called police to the intersection of East Montview Boulevard and Lansing Street because one of his fares stiffed him Dec. 25. The suspect jumped out of the car and jumped over a fence. Police followed his footprints but couldn’t find him.

4 Missing phone. Police were called to a home in the 3800 block of South Olathe Street because a woman accused her roommate of stealing her daughter’s phone Dec. 24. The phone and roommate went missing about the same time.

5 Tree wrecker. A man who kept a Christmas tree on his front porch in the 23000 block of East Saratoga Street called police because someone walked up to the tree and pushed it over Dec. 27. The suspect also disconnected a surveillance camera.

6 Brazen shoplifter. Police arrested a man for trying to steal two black hoodies from the Generation X clothing store at 779 N. Peoria St. The suspect threw the clothes over his arm and tried to leave the store Dec. 26.
