A Grand Junction man was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed his father for not giving him money.
Police said Victor Green, 29, confronted his father in the driveway of a home on the 400 block of Melody Lane. Witnesses told police they saw Green attack his father with a knife and heard him threaten to kill him.
The father told Green to leave, officials said, at which point Green pulled out a large knife and cut him. The father tackled Green and held him on the ground until police arrived.
The officers observed several wounds to the father’s hands and a cut on his side. Both men were taken to the hospital. Victor was later released and officers booked him into jail, charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault with injury, and violation of a protection order.
The protection order prohibited Victor from possessing a weapon.
The father told police Green had threatened to kill him on Tuesday night for not giving him money.
