World champion skier Mikaela Shiffrin leads the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame’s 2014 athletes-of-the-year winners, which were announced Wednesday morning.

Shiffrin, 19, finished the 2014 season as the Olympic, World Cup and World champion in slalom. It is the second straight year she has been honored with the award.

Colorado State University of Pueblo’s football team, which won the Division II title, was honored as the “King of the Hill” recipient.

Colorado State wide receiver Rashard Higgins and CSU women’s volleyball player Taylor Simpson were honored as the collegiate athletes of the year. Former Broomfield wrestler Phil Downing, who won his fourth straight state title last year, and Lewis-Palmer senior volleyball player Alexa Smith were the high school winners.

Garrison Hayes of the National Sports Center for the Disabled will receive the disabled athete recognition award.

The athletes will be honored at the annual banquet, which takes place April 2 at the Denver Marriott City Center. Chauncey Billups, John Dikeou, John Gagliardi, Becky Hammon, Roy Halladay and Warren Mitchell will be inducted into the 2015 Hall of Fame class.
