A Denver woman is accused of commiting a series of crimes — including careless and drunken driving and assaulting a peace officer — after she left her 11-month-old son alone at home.

Melissa Boyd, 43, has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault on a peace officer, child abuse, driving under the influence, driving under restraint, no proof of insurance , leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and careless driving, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The charges allege that just before midnight on Jan. 10, Boyd was driving drunk and ran from the scene of a crash with another vehicle at East 12th Avenue and Logan Street. She is also accused of assaulting a Denver sheriff deputy during her arrest.

She reportedly left her child unattended at home before the incident began.

Now in custody, Boyd is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Friday.
