
Embattled comedian Bill Cosby released a statement today to people who bought tickets to his Jan. 17 shows at the Buell Theatre, thanking them for their support despite promises of protests outside the performance.
The 77-year-old stand-up, who has been more than 15 women, is sticking to his plan of performing 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows at the Buell, despite the fact that a local anti-Cosby movement has snowballed over the last week to include .
Cosby’s statement read:
“Dear Fans: I have thousands of loyal, patient and courageous fans that are going to leave their homes to enjoy an evening of laughter and return home feeling wonderful. I’m ready!… I thank you, the theatre staff, the event organizers and the Colorado Community for your continued support and coming to experience family, fun entertainment.”
Cosby finished with a reference to his “Fat Albert” TV show and his 2013 Comedy Central special, respectively:
“Hey, Hey, Hey — I’m Far From Finished.”
The statement comes amid renewed attention on the comedian who, since November, has seen show cancellations, criticism from other comedians and celebrities, and his attempted late-career comeback sputter.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department said from Chloe Goins, one of Cosby’s accusers.
Also on Wednesday, a Massachusetts venue due to the negative attention from his visit, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
