GOLDEN — A woman was sentenced Thursday to 22 years in prison for her role in a nine-person identity theft ring that operated in the Denver area in 2013.
Angela Marie Vigil, 35, was identified by the Jefferson County district attorney’s office as one of the ringleaders of the group, which stole personal and financial information from people and businesses then used it to create checks and identifications.
Vigil pleaded guilty in December to violating Colorado’s organized crime control act and two counts of identity theft. She was already on probation for a prior felony conviction for identity theft when she committed the most recent crimes.
Two other women and a man named in the indictment have pleaded guilty and been sentenced. Cases against the other five defendants are pending. Anthony Cotton, The Denver Post
