Lauren Casteel has been named president and CEO of The Women’s Foundation of Colorado. She begins work Feb. 23.
She replaces Louise Atkinson, who resigned in November after leading the organization for 4½ years.
Casteel, 61, has worked since 1998 at The Denver Foundation, where she serves as vice president of philanthropic partnerships.
Casteel said her mission with the foundation is “to work with our diverse community in Colorado and to deepen the engagement with our donors, corporate partners and non-profit partners.”
The organization has a $20 million endowment. In 2014 it disbursed $1.3 million of grants to for low-income women and girls.
Casteel was
and now becomes the first person to lead three foundations in Colorado. She previously directed the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation and the Hunt Alternatives Fund.
