An Englewood man pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a woman in his apartment in 2013.
Arthur William Price, 30, was sentenced to 36 years in prison in the death of Katrina Pacheco, the 18th District Attorney’s Office said.
On Aug. 7, 2013, prosecutors said, Price stabbed Pacheco twice at his apartment, at 14400 E. Fremont Avenue in unincorporated Arapahoe County. Shortly afterward, Price ran to his mother’s apartment — located within the same apartment complex — stating that he had killed a woman. Witnesses heard the defendant yelling, “I killed somebody today, mama, I killed somebody. I watched her bleed.”
Price’s mother called the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office. Officers said Price kicked and spit at them as he was being arrested.
Police reported Price appeared to be highly intoxicated. He was later found to have a blood alcohol content of .450.
Officers had been to defendant’s apartment before and had previously seen Pacheco at the residence. While checking on her welfare, officers found her body on a bed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DA’s office said Price and Pacheco knew each other socially. In June 2013, an incident occurred in which Price lunged at Pacheco with a pair scissors and while he did not cut her, he broke her foot.
