ROSEMONT, Ill. — Reto Berra became the 11th goalie in American Hockey League history to score when he fired a shot into an empty net in the Lake Erie Monsters’ 5-1 victory over the Chicago Wolves on Friday night.

With Chicago goalie Matt Climie off for an extra attacker, Berra lofted a shot that slid into the empty net with 1:26 left to make it 4-1. He’s the seventh AHL goalie to actually shoot the puck into the opposition’s net.

Berra made 20 saves in the victory in his first start since the Colorado Avalanche sent him to Lake Erie on Jan. 10 on a conditioning assignment. In 10 games for Colorado this season, the 28-year-old Swiss goalie is 2-2-1 with a 3.57 goals-against average.
