The Lakewood Police Department arrested a fleeing suspect after a Lakewood bank was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Police responded to a call about 1:20 p.m. from TCF Bank at 7070 W. Alameda Ave. regarding a robbery, according to a Lakewood Police Department news release.
Witnesses provided police with information about a suspect fleeing the area in a vehicle, the release said.
Police stopped the vehicle, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
“The suspect was by himself,” said Lakewood Police Department Detective Ryan McKone. “No crashes, no damage, no high speed chase. Nobody was hurt.”
McKone said the bank is open a few hours on Sunday afternoons.
Police have not yet released the suspect’s name or the amount of money taken or recovered during the robbery, the release said.
