Abominable Winter Adventure Run
Jan. 31: The four-mile course includes running, climbing, crawling and sledding through a variety of obstacles. 9-10:15 a.m. packet pickup, 10:30 a.m. run begins. Yeti costumes and furry hats welcome. $45 per person, $60 after Jan. 21; $40 per team (two or more people), $55 after Jan. 21. Rio Frio 5K on Ice
Jan. 31: Offered as part of the Alamosa Ice Festival (Jan. 30-31 with professional ice sculptors, children’s activities, a bonfire and more), the 5K is entirely run on the frozen Rio Grande River (with course alterations if necessary). Teams welcome. Start waves begin at 9 a.m. The start/finish is on a wide spot in the river adjacent to Alamosa’s Cole Park. Yeti Chase 5K & 10K
Jan. 25: Racing Underground presents the fifth annual race offering a 5K with a mostly-flat course at 10 a.m. or a 10K with a few rolling hills at 10:08 a.m. Post-race festivities include refreshments with hot chocolate, prize drawings and awards. $35-$40; no race-day registration.
