The Broncos are interviewing Wade Phillips for their defensive coordinator position on Tuesday morning, according to an NFL source.
Phillips, 67 was Gary Kubiak’s defensive coordinator with the Houston Texans from 2011-13. Phillips did not coach in 2014, his first season out of NFL coaching since 1975. Phillips was the Broncos’ head coach in 1993-94, posting a 16-16 record.
Kubiak, hired last week as the Broncos’ head coach, may also interview former Atlanta coach Mike Smith for the defensive coordinator position.
Cincinnati defensive backs coach Vance Joseph remains Kubiak’s top choice for defensive coordinator but Bengals’ owner Mike Brown and coach Marvin Lewis have refused to allow him out of his contract.
