Interview with Lisa Wood, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: When my boys were small, we frequented paint-your-own pottery studios wherever and whenever we could. We loved the experience, and my boys came up with the idea that I should open a studio in Evergreen. I did just that and we are now going into our 14th year.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We provide an environment for people of all ages to be creative and have lots of fun. I’ve been told that Go Paint! has a really cool “vibe” and we make it an exciting place to be. Our studio always has great music playing and we have so many ideas to help our painters get their “creative” on. We also are instrumental in providing fundraising ideas for schools and organizations. We can help raise money for your cause.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: My customers. I have watched kids grow up and have become very close to so many families. We see generations in our studio — from newborns to grandparents and love them all.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Like any small business in a small town, we have to work constantly at bringing in new customers and keeping our loyal customers interested. We have many painters who come up from the Denver area to our studio because they like us and enjoy downtown Evergreen.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: I do not have an art degree or any formal art training. I came from a family where we were required to make all of our gifts, so I consider myself “crafty.” You don’t have to be an artist — just the desire to be creative and have fun.
