DENVER — Marijuana users in Colorado and Washington already get warnings that the drug shouldn’t be used by pregnant and nursing women.

But Colorado is considering going further with to post signs warning that maternal marijuana use poses risks to unborn children.

Colorado is also working on a new advertising campaign aimed at pregnant and nursing women.

The moves come despite a state health report issued this week that cites “mixed” evidence for potap link to birth defects.

The sign requirement faces its first hearing Tuesday. Its Republican sponsor calls it a needed warning for women.

But some marijuana businesses are skeptical of the sign requirement, calling it an “attempt to discredit” marijuana.
