The 17th Judicial District attorney’s office has filed felony charges against an Adams County sheriff’s deputy for his conduct during an official court proceeding.
The sheriff’s office said it was notified Wednesday of criminal allegations of perjury against Justin Johnson, an Adams County deputy for more than 14 years, and began an investigation.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office submitted results of that investigation to the DA’s office. After the DA’s office filed the charge, Johnson was placed on paid administrative leave.
“The sheriff’s office takes the allegations seriously and is investigating whether there are any similar incidents in other cases investigated by the deputy,” the sheriff’s office said.
“Sheriff Michael McIntosh is extremely disappointed with the situation (and) will accept nothing less than 100 percent professionalism from our deputies.”
The sheriff’s office said it will continue to follow the case as it moves through the judicial system.
