Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak to Congress on March 3 about U.S. nuclear talks with Iran. (Sebastian Scheiner, Associated Press file)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled address to the U.S. Congress on March 3, two weeks before the Israeli election, is an insult to President Obama and to the American people. Netanyahu’s goal is to scuttle the peace talks currently being held between the U.S, our European allies and with Iran. Why are we allowing a foreign leader to address Congress in order to propose a policy that is totally contrary to U.S. (and European) foreign policy? This doesn’t sound like an ally to me.

Rep. John Boehner should never have invited Netanyahu. He didn’t even consult with the administration beforehand, which is inexcusable.
