Golden’s announced his retirement at last night’s city council meeting.
“It is with deep respect, pride and emotion that I ask you to accept my resignation effective upon the hiring of my successor,” Bestor told council during staff comments.

“I believe it is time for me to move on to new adventures,” he said. He told the Golden Transcript yesterday that he plans to retire.
will form a committee that will have until March 13 to screen and choose a recruiter that specializes in searches for city managers. Bestor noted that searches for city managers in Lakewood and Westminster took about six months.
“It will be a process,” he said.
