NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado tonight will recognize the “pro-choice men who stand alongside us in support.”

“The NARAL Men’s Leadership Council was created to encourage pro-choice men to share their stories and show their support for reproductive rights. We know this isn’t just a women’s issue — this is an issue that affects families and women’s partners and spouses as well,” according to a news release.

The event is on the eve of “Reproductive Freedom Lobby Day” at the state Capitol on Thursday. Supporters note that although Colorado “anti-abortion, anti-birth control Personhood” ballot measures by landslide margins, anti-choice legislators continue to introduce “bill after bill banning abortion and restricting reproductive rights.”

The hosts for the NARAL Men’s Leadership Council include state Sens. Andy Kerr of Lakewood and Michael Merrifield of Colorado Springs; Reps. John Buckner of Aurora and Dave Young of Greeley; former secretary of state candidate Joe Neguse, state House candidate Aaron Goldhamer and Denver city Council candidate Travis Leiker.

Other hosts are Donald Aptekar, Andrew Baumann, John Brackney, Josh Davies, Howard Gelt, Warren Hern, Sami Ibrahim, Andy Kabza, Michael McNeal, Chris O’Dell, Christian Overbey, Rich Pelletier, Willie Shepherd, Steve Sherick, Aaron Silverstein and Aris Sophocles.
