The Monarch Coyotes won their ninth straight game and second of the season against the Front Range League-rival Fairview Knights 70-42 on Friday at the Denver Coliseum.

In February, Monarch, now 24-2, waxed Fairview 62-28, but, as Coyotes coach Gail Hook pointed out, it was a different time and Fairview had some injured players.

Fairview hung tough on Friday in the first half and trailed only 28-23.

“We knew it would be that way,” Hook said.

However, the Coyotes broke away in the second, outscoring the Knights 42-19.

Senior Raegen Rohn, bound for Sacramento State and the daughter of Mike Rohn, a men’s assistant at the University of Colorado, led Monarch with 20 points, all in the first and fourth quarters. And sophomore Jasmine Jeffcoat, daughter of CU defensive line coach Jim, a former Dallas Cowboys star, added 15 points and eight rebounds.

Another sophomore, Peyton Carter, added 11 points.

For Fairview, which ended 16-11 and advanced to another Great 8 under coach Rod Beauchamp, Annika Lei, signed with Montana State, had a game-high 21 points.
