Re: “Daylight saving time change impacts schools, ERs and roadways,” March 6 news story.

The national Energy Policy Act of 2005, Section 110, changed daylight saving time from the first Sunday in April to the second Sunday in March. When it did, Congress retained the right to revert daylight saving time back to April, as it was prior to 2005.

Combining the early start time of middle and high schools with daylight saving time in March is a recipe for car crashes, dropouts, depression, suicide and school violence, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Changing the clocks isn’t so painful in April, when there is morning daylight to spare.

Instead of year-round daylight saving time or no daylight saving time, could we compromise and return to the schedule that worked?
