Last week, I talked to representatives from the three craft breweries that have opened in Golden in the past two years, and they all had one specific place in common: Golden City Brewery.

The neighborhood brewery’s backyard beer garden, open since 1993, was where they either met their business partner (), planned their own venture or got to know Golden.
And, , nursing the future competition led to a bit of a hit for Golden City Brewery when three breweries opened in the city in 2013.
“When the other breweries decided to come in all in a flood there at the same time, it impacted us,” owner Janine Sturdavant said.
That did not last long, however, and now Golden City Brewery and the others — Mountain Toad, , and Cannonball Creek, in addition to AC Golden — have brewed Golden Gate Saison for Collaboration Fest, and all look forward to working more together.
More news for Golden City Brewery:
That’s not all GCB is rolling out this spring. They’ve renovated their tasting room, which includes two new, needed bathrooms, and the beer garden boasts innovative new hearths to help keep the patio warm in cold weather.
They’re also focusing on their wine and cider, which Sturdavant said is selling exceptionally well and could soon be sourcing fruit from Palisade.
Finally, Golden City Brewery will be pouring some special Irish coffee this St. Patrick’s Day to pair perfectly with Irish folk tunes of Mulligan Stew. Using cold brew from , they now have nitro coffee on tap. If you didn’t think Irish coffee could get any smoother, you have to try this.
