1 Leave that to the police. Police closed a woman’s case against two local boys whom she accused of damaging her sidewalk lights in the 100 block of North Ider Street. The victim had grainy security pictures of the suspects, so she called their parents and tried to get a confession Feb. 18. It didn’t work, and police said the case was compromised.

2 Party foul. Police broke up an underage party in the 2200 block of North Moline Street on Feb. 18. A couple of hours later, a man who lives at that house called to report that his cellphone, headphones, game console and a some hats were stolen.

3 Highlight and dash. A woman went into Salon FX, 4327 S. Buckley Road, and asked for a full head of red highlights Feb. 19. When it was time to pay the $90 bill, the woman got in a truck and left.

4 Tip thief. The owner of Chill Yogurt, 2275 S. Peoria St., called police because a girl stole all the cash from the counter tip jar Feb. 26. The victim said she noticed the money was gone and watched the crime on her security footage. She said she would call police if the girl came back.

5 Nothing happened. A man called police to his home in the 400 block of North Scranton Street after he received a court summons Feb. 23 for not paying a repair bill on a car he didn’t own. Police discovered that the car sales company accidentally mixed up the victim and another customer with a similar name.

6 Drafty homes. An employee of Richmond American Homes called police to the 25500 block of East Fifth Place because someone stole five windows from four homes that were being built there Feb. 17.
